When I had the idea for "HumanityBeautiful.com," I was on a flight from Orlando to New Orleans to be with my parents who had been in a serious accident there a month before. The humanity they were surrounded with had certainly been beautiful, including two therapists who had served the sick of Charity Hospital during the ugliness that followed the floodwaters of Katrina. I had been thinking for some time about creating a clearinghouse of sorts, an online news channel, for people to know about organizations and individuals who live as letters of love into the lives of the needy, the hopeless, the oppressed ­ all those burdened by the injustices of our world.

That's when I sensed in my heart a voice whisper, "When you land, purchase the web url for humanitybeautiful.com." I did.

It's been a long time developing, because I have been pretty busy taking care of my parents and being with my own family (wife and four kids). However, I continued to be burdened that reporting about those who love and live as humanity was intended to live was of paramount importance. So, that's what I am attempting to do with this website.

I am not trying to pat people on the back who serve others regardless of whether they are noticed. I am not trying to bring the applause of men and women to men and women who give themselves away regardless of the presence of an audience. I am trying to report the news of love, of humanity beautiful, in hopes that it will inspire us all toward the same. I hope it will cause us all to discover the cause of our hearts and live beyond ourselves.

That's when we find abundant life. That's when humanity is beautiful.
